Step 1: Log Into cPanel
Your hosting provider gives you a cPanel login URL, usually something like yourdomain.com/cpanel or a link in your welcome email. Log in with the credentials provided when your hosting account was created.
Step 2: Find the Email Accounts Section
Look for “Email Accounts” under the Email section of your cPanel dashboard.
Step 3: Create Your Email Address
Click “Create,” choose your desired username (e.g., “info” or “hello”), select your domain from the dropdown, and set a strong password. Set a mailbox quota appropriate for your needs, or leave it unlimited if your plan allows.
Step 4: Access Your New Inbox
You have two main options:
- Webmail: Access your inbox directly through a browser at yourdomain.com/webmail, no setup required.
- Email client: Connect your new address to Outlook, Apple Mail, or a mobile mail app using the manual configuration settings shown in cPanel (IMAP/POP3 and SMTP details).
Step 5: Set Up Forwarding (Optional)
If you’d rather not check a separate inbox, you can forward all mail from your new address to your existing Gmail or Outlook account through the “Forwarders” section in cPanel — while still sending replies from your professional address.
Step 6: Configure Spam Filters
Under “Email Deliverability” and spam filter settings, you can enable built-in tools like Apache SpamAssassin to automatically filter out junk mail before it reaches your inbox.
Step 7: Improve Deliverability with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC
These are technical records that tell other mail servers your emails are legitimate, dramatically reducing the chance they land in spam folders. Most cPanel accounts let you auto-generate these under “Email Deliverability” — it’s worth doing this on day one.
